Longtime South Florida News Anchor, Todd Tongen Dies at the age of 56
Miami news reporter & news anchor has died at Miami TV station WPLG in Miami, Florida, the United States at the age of 56. The ABC affiliate says that Todd Tongen was found dead by police after his wife, Karen Tongen was unable to reach him while out of town. As of now, the cause of death is unknown. Todd Tongen had served at the news station for nearly three decades.
His most popular segment “10 Taxi,” in which Todd had driven guests including comedian Joan Rivers and actor Vin Diesel in a 1967 Checker cab. The audience also watched and liked Tongen train with the Miami Dolphins and fly with the Air Force Thunderbirds.
Talking about his professional career, Tongen started his career as a radio disc jockey in his native Minnesota in broadcasting in 1983. Tongen was lived with his wife, Karen, and his two sons, Tyler and Ryker Tongen.
